Day 1

Ayubowan - you have arrived! Welcome to Sri Lanka! Your guide will welcome you at the airport.
Arrival and proceed to Negombo.
Negombo, a perfect choice to spend a few days in the company of the sun and sand. The diverse array of restaurants, pubs and accommodation choices this metropolis offer is a perfect reflection of this beach-town’s exultant vibe.
Check in at the Hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 2

Commence your journey through this amazing island!
If interested, early morning visit the Fish Market and return to the hotel for breakfast.
In the morning venture out on a tour of Negombo. Negombo is one of Sri Lanka’s busiest fishing centers and is also famous for coconut products, cinnamon, ceramics and brassware. The beauty is found on the beaches and around the lagoons, where colorful fishing boats lie on the blue water against a backdrop of palm trees and blue sky. Dutch Canal which was then a supply route to the Dutch administration, old churches and fishing villagers is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective.
Stop at a Pineapple-Plantation and have your first experience with this delicious tropical fruit. Sri Lanka is well known for its sweet pineapples.
Arrive in the cultural triangle and discover the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple dated from the first century BC.
Dambulla Cave temple, a complex that lies atop a massive hill on the edge of the town is one of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites in the country and is renowned for its unique sculptures and the largest mural paintings.

Day 3

After breakfast proceed to visit Polonnaruwa.
Polonnaruwa, enthrals its visitors with a timeless reflection of the country’s glorious history. Once the site of Sri Lanka’s second medieval capital, the quaint landscapes studded with sites of archaeological importance are all well-preserved.

Folklore dancing is of significance to Sri Lankan “Sinhala” Culture which has a profound connection to Buddhism and Society. The origin of folklore dancing goes way back in time to the indigenous people of Sri Lanka. According to historical records, the tribal people - Yakkas were fond of Music and Dance. It’s a combination of graceful to vigorous body movements swaying in complex rhythms of the thumping drum beat. (Aprx. USD 25/- per person)
? In the evening take a turn in your liking of Adventure and make it double the excitement with a Night Safari! It’s the best time to spot the magnificent animals as they wander about in the night. Make sure to be well geared with your night vision cameras however, don’t forget to be silent in order not to scare the creatures away. If you’re lucky enough you will encounter the endangered species, “The Magnificent Elephant” as the ‘cherry on top of the cake’. To top the night off with more spice, your guide will take you to a nearby boutique to have a meaty snack -“Bonnet Chicken”, a dish named after a “wild” incident that occurred of an elephant attacking the “bonnet” of a jeep that was cruising on safari. This would certainly give you a pump for the next day’s activities! (Aprx. USD 25/- per person – Important note best season is between May – October every year)

Day 4

It’s time to bring out the moves in you! Meet your dance guru for the day – Miss Sachini a traditional folklore dancing teacher from a village School in Habarana. Return to the hotel and relax.
Climb to the top of the UN World Heritage Site of Sigiriya at 4pm. An ancient rock fortress from the 5th Century. Amazing views of the Cultural Triangle!

Day 5

After breakfast proceed to Kandy / Digana.
Arrive into the last stronghold of Sinhala Kings & UN World Heritage Site – the Hill Country capital of Kandy.
Wander around the lake and the streets of Kandy getting a feel for this wonderful city.
Explore the city’s Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Upon completion proceed to Digana.

Day 6

In the morning enjoy a hike to the water fall. You start with a 30 minute tuk-tuk ride or jeep ride to the footpath leading to the waterfall. The walk to this secluded waterfall is about 1km in the jungle covered by large trees, rocks and waterways. The pool area is large and fairly deep. The water is clean and safe to bathe in a temperature of around 22ºC.

Day 7

Rug up today you head to cooler climbs - 6500ft.
See how Ceylon tea is made and gain an insight into becoming a discerning tea taster on a Tea Factory tour. Learn the art of plucking the legendary two leaves and a bud. It is not as easy as it looks yet it is great fun!

Day 8

After breakfast proceed to Hikkaduwa.
Stop in Kitulgala, the breathtaking scenery here was used for the filming of the Oscar-winning classic “The Bridge over the River Kwai” by David Lean.
The sleepy riverside village of Kitulgala owes its popularity to the Kelani River which offers exciting Grade 3 and 4 rapids for rafting (optional USD 15/- per person payable directly for rafting activities)
Relax and enjoy a nice lunch after this excitement before you continue your journey.
Arrive at Hikkaduwa. Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka’s most popular beach front located 98 km from Colombo. Its close proximity to the capital, range of affordable accommodation choices and the exciting night-life has contributed to its growing popularity.
