Explore Whitsundays: 2 day Maxi Sailing

This is a 2-day / 2-night fully crewed live-aboard sailing tour of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland. This trip is perfect for guests looking for the complete Whitsunday experience, including snorkelling on Fringing Island Coral Reefs and a visit to Whitehaven Beach and an island bush walk, plus an option to do a Scuba Dive. Maxi`s are massive yachts around 22 to 24 metres long and provide an action packed sailing tour. Guests are welcome to get involved with the sailing and help the crew pull the ropes and hoist the massive sails, or simply relax on the decks. You will anchor overnight in a smooth water bay, so sleeping is comfy. The yachts have had an extensive interior refits and today offer comfortable guest accommodation, a large lounge/dining area, and bathrooms with hot showers.

Itinerary

01

Day 1

Please note that this itinerary is flexible as it depends heavily on the tides, winds and prevailing atmospheric conditions. If passengers have a special location they`d like to visit, please mention it to the crew on board, and they`ll do their best to accommodate the request.
Depart from the marina at 2:00pm, hoist the sails and head to across the Whitsunday Passage, to Hook Island. Time for a snorkel or a swim before pre-dinner snacks and watching the sun go down over the islands. Settle in for the evening, enjoy dinner and a few drinks, mingle and socialise with the guests.

Day 2

Early start and sail to Tongue Bay, enjoy breakfast along the way. Arrive at Tongue Bay and take a guided walk up to the magnificent Hill Inlet Lookout point on Whitsunday Island. Take photos of the pure white silica sands of Whitehaven Beach. Follow your crew on a guided walk through the bush, spot a goanna, hear the birds before arriving at the Beach. Time for a swim, sunbathe, or explore this beautiful pristine location. Around 11:00am, head back to the yacht for lunch, before setting the sails for a 2 hour voyage to the northern end of Hook Island. Time to have a snorkel on the reefs teeming with marine life, guests who wish to Scuba Dive can go over to the Dive Boat for a Intro or Certified Dive. Then sail to Langford Reef or Blue Pearl Bay and watch the sunset, enjoy pre-dinner snacks, dinner and a few drinks, mingle and socialise with the guests.

Day 3

Early start, time to swim and snorkel, spot some turtles, then set the sails and cross the Whitsunday Passage before arriving back at the marina in Airlie Beach at 11:00am. Services end, although, many guests will stay in Airlie Beach tonight and meet up for dinner at one of the popular bars.

    Accommodation

      The accommodation consists of a shared cabin with shared bathrooms with hot showers. Single Bunks or Double Bunks are available. There are no private cabins, Yachts are open plan vessel, similar to a hostel in style:
      Open Plan Share is Dormitory style accommodation, with Single bunk beds.
      Open Plan Double is a Double Bed in a dormitory style cabin with other beds.
      Only the Condor (which departs only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) has 2 Private Double Cabins
