After breakfast, begin the 3-day and 2-night excursion to Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, two of Africa's premier wildlife areas.

Additional Notes:
Changing to specialized 4x4 7-seater safari vehicles, meet experienced safari driver/guides, who will ensure wonderful wildlife encounters. The safari vehicles each have sliding windows and a large pop-up roof, perfect for game viewing. They are smaller than the overland adventure vehicle (OAV) and will allow the group to maneuver easily through the wildlife areas. As the vehicles are smaller than the overland adventure vehicle (OAV), the group will split up among several vehicles.

Included Activities:
Serengeti National Park Safari

Transport:
7-seat 4x4 safari vehicle (8.00 hour(s), 320km)

04

Day 4: Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro (1B, 1L, 1D)

Before leaving the Serengeti, enjoy one last morning game drive to see the animal kingdom come to life in this incredible expanse of grassland savannah. Then return and break camp, and journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, famous for Africa's best game viewing. The views from the Ngorongoro Crater rim are stunning, and there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife, due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Arrive at the campsite at the crater rim in the late afternoon.

Additional Notes:
Please note: if you have pre-booked the Serengeti Balloon Safari, today's likely the day for this activity! The CEO will give the final confirmation when it will take place, as it is subject to change. You will miss the included morning game drive with the group, but you will have a much better view from above!

Included Activities:
Serengeti National Park Safari

Transport:
7-seat 4x4 safari vehicle (5.00 hour(s), 160km)

05

Day 5: Ngorongoro/Marangu (1B, 1L, 1D)

Exit the crater late in the morning, and travel via Arusha to Marangu. Marangu is a popular starting point for people climbing Mt Kilimanjaro.

Additional Notes:
If you have booked the Zanzibar Express, you will part from the group in Arusha and be transferred to your Arusha hotel for the night. The following morning you will fly to Zanzibar. 06

Day 6: Marangu/Dar es Salaam (1B, 1L, 1D)

Depart Marangu, passing the majestic Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, and head towards Dar Es Salaam. The city started as a fishing village in the mid-19th century before becoming a port and trading centre.

After arriving on Zanzibar, transfer to Nungwi Beach. Relax on the idyllic white-sand beaches, wander through the village of Nungwi or opt to go snorkelling or diving.

Additional Notes:
Zanzibar is a Muslim society. Immodestly dressed women or men in shorts will get harassed and cause great offense in Stone Town. In Nungwi, customs are a little more relaxed, but travellers are encouraged to be respectful of the island's culture and cover up when walking around. Never try to take a photograph without asking permission.

Transport:
Ferry (2.00 hour(s))
Private Vehicle (1.50 hour(s))

08

Day 8: Nungwi (1B)

Opt to go diving, snorkelling, exploring or just sit back and relax.

09

Day 9: Nungwi/Stone Town (1B)

Explore Stone Town, the heart of the island. It has an intriguing maze of narrow, cobbled lanes hemmed in by Arabic buildings. The best way to see Stone Town is, literally, to get lost. One can spend hours just wandering the alleys and squares, drinking potent coffee from pavement vendors, or buying sweetmeats from scores of tiny cafes. Look out for tinga-tinga paintings, antique shops, beautifully printed cloths (kangas and kikois worn by local people), little carved chests with copper inlays and spices – all beautiful presents or memories to take home.

Included Activities:
Spice Plantation Tour

Transport:
Private Vehicle (4.00 hour(s))

10

Day 10: Stone Town/Baobab Valley (1B, 1L, 1D)

Catch the ferry back to Dar Es Salaam and continuing travelling west to the campsite in the Baobab Valley on the banks of the Ruaha River. The camp is on the edge of the Udzwungwa Mountains National Park.

Transport:
Overland adventure vehicle (OAV) (5.00 hour(s))

14

Day 14: Kande Beach (1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy a traditional dinner in a local home, and opt to explore by foot, go snorkelling, or take a village tour.

Cross the border into Zambia and finish the day riverside in the Luangwa Valley.

Included Activities:

16

Day 16: Mfuwe (1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy a free day to explore South Luangwa NP, a wildlife haven. Opt to go on a walking safari (seasonal), night drive, or visit a nearby local village.

I have travelled the world, but had never been on an organized tour before, and my adventure through East Africa was the most memorable trip I have ever taken! The trip was well organized, our guides, Arno and Johan, were fantastic, and I made friendships that will last a lifetime. The whole experience was so wonderful I had to come back for more!

Africa did not disappoint on this trip. It was everything I thought it would be, beautiful, vast, completely foreign from my home. During the Serengeti my car saw a cheetah kill, that was one of the high points. Another was white water rafting on the Zambezi in Vic Falls. Even though it was the scariest thing I ever did, I still did it!

I had the best time of my life! It was all down to Trevor and Albie as they were so helpful and fun to be with. We couldnt have asked for anyone better. The truck was very spacious and comfortable, the accommodation suprised me everytime as it was even better each place we went to. I loved the camping more than the hotels. The itinary was good but the trip should extend by one more day at the end in Livingstone as it was a rush to see everything before I flew home.I cannot wait to do another trip the other side of Africa with you!

This trip was worth every dollar I spent on it. I have always wanted to travel to Africa, but wasn't sure about doing it on my own. The tour provided great travelling companions as well as a leader who was more than knowledgeable about the land and people living in Africa. Returning home was definitely the toughest part because I will miss the amazing sunsets and night skies.. I don't think there's any like them elsewhere in the world. I have definitely recommended this trip to many people I know and will continue to do so.
