Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Madrid

Check-in to the hotel and head straight out into Madrid to get a feel for the city’s high energy life style. Moving to a whole lot of different beats, Madrid is packed with diverse barrios (neighbourhoods), lively plazas and a healthy nightlife. Later, meet up with the other Contiki travellers and your Trip Manager over dinner.

Day 2: Madrid

It's easy to get hooked on this city that blends traditional culture with new vitality in everything from shopping & food to arts & culture. Madrid is the culinary capital, the artistic centre and the night life hotspot of Spain so start your adventure here!

Day 3: Madrid to Granada

Head south taking in the beauty of the Sierra Nevada mountains on the way. Arrive in the historic and cultural hub of Grenada. Tonight, learn why Granada’s got such a reputation for amazing food. Try their fresh seafood, eat some more tapas (perfect for trying a bit of everything) and for dessert, the speciality Arab pastries are just right!

Day 4: Granada

Start the day at the palace fortress of Alhambra, this Moorish Palace is beautiful, with it's intricate patterns and stunning architechture leaving you wondering why you haven't been here sooner. To top it all off, it offers the best views in the city. The Muslim quarter of Albaicin and the Capilla Real are just some of the other ways your day today can be filled. Granada is also known for its incredible food - not least of all its Arab pastries - so you could also fill your whole day pleasuring your sense of taste.

Day 5: Granada to Fez

Across the Strait of Gibraltar to the continent of Africa, past the Rif Mountains to the medieval capital of Morocco, Fez. Prepare to be amazed by the best preserved old city in the Arab world, the Medina. Soak it all up, as you discover this colourful city and take in all the vibrant sights, sounds and smells it has to offer.

Day 6: Fez

Today is all about exploring. Go local with an action packed day of sightseeing; visit the Royal Palace, soak in the spectacular views of one of the oldest cities in Morocco dating back to the 9th Century, tour the walls of the Medina of Fez, do a bit of shopping at the Cooperative of Handmade Carpets or check out the Wooden Galerie (Foundouk Nijarrine) for some beautiful 18th century architecture.

Day 7: Fez to Marrakech

See more of the fascinating country of Morocco as we head southwards to Marrakech. On the way you'll pass through the green oasis of Ifrane, a cool gem within the heat of Africa, and experience the breath-taking sight of the famous Atlas Mountains.

Day 8: Marrakech

Throw yourself head first into the vibrant city of Marrakech. Soak up the history and tradition of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and un-missable Jamaa el Fna Square. With a free afternoon, you could wander through the historic city, hit the world famous souks to stock up on some bargains or in the evening join the optional dinner complete with horse and carriage ride, through town and a belly dancing extravaganza.

Day 9: Marrakech to Assilah via Casablanca and Rabat

The intoxicating beauty and mayhem of Marrakech should have us well and truly hooked on all things Morocco. With this new found love we'll head north to Assilah, exploring the West Coast along the way. In the few hours drive from Marrakech to Casablanca, we suggest you fire up the iPad and watch the 1942 black and white classic that helped the world fall in love with this city. The seaside masterpiece of the Hassan II Mosque & tree shaded cafes with very legitimate tea will help you craft your own Casablanca love story. The political and administrative capital of Morocco, Rabat is a manicured city of palm trees and desert like architecture. We'll stop off, take it all in, then carry on to our next exotic stop - the thoroughfare between Europe and Africa. Assilah. Located on the Atlantic East coast of Morocco, we make our final Moroccan stop in this well-preserved 15th Century town built bythe Colonial Portuguese. Absorb your last night of North African exoticism, enjoying every minute of this other-wordly city.

Day 10: Assilah to Seville

Say goodbye to Africa, stop off at the island of Gibraltar enroute to the Andalucian capital, Seville. Explore this passionate city known for its heritage of art and culture, visit the famous attractions, enjoy the 13th Century architecture and the world's biggest cathedral. Home of flamenco, enjoy a night of dance with the fun loving, laid back locals. Surely a night to remember!

Day 11: Seville

Enjoy your time in laid back sunny Seville, a place that's quintessentially Andalucian. Enjoy a day of discovery before our adventure continues in Portugal tomorrow.

Day 12: Seville to Lisbon

Next up is Portugal's contemporary capital Lisbon. Tour the pictureque city and embrace all it has to offer; gothic cathedrals, charming side streets and the beautiful river views.

Day 13: Lisbon

Once home to the world's greatest explorers, Lisbon is now a modern traveller's dream. Tour the pictureque capital and embrace all it has to offer; charming side streets, romantic scenic vistas and the beautiful ocean views. Discover the cultural treasures and historical sites, or opt to take a half day trip to the much loved coastal town of Cascais & the cultural centre of Sintra. Later, it's back to Lisbon for a night of partying or enjoying the sunset over the Atlantic ocean.

Day 14: Lisbon to Madrid

Cross back in to Spain for the final leg of your trip, returning to Madrid & final night on the town!

Day 15: Depart Madrid

Your trip ends after breakfast and it’s time to say farewell to your new friends.
