We leave Dublin at 09.30am and head southwest into the lush green Irish countryside. Pass the River Liffey on the way to the imposing Rock of Cashel, once the seat of the Kings of Munster. Through the Golden Vale to Blarney Castle in the rebel county of Cork. Now’s your chance to give the famous stone a big juicy smacker to get the legendary ‘gift of the gab’ and explore the castle’s Poison Garden.
We stay overnight in the party town of Killarney and head out to some local pubs where you can get acquainted with the Irish national drink; Guinness. You will never taste a creamier pint of the black stuff outside of Ireland!
Today it’s all about a breath-taking scenery and adventure. We take the world famous Slea Head Drive down to Dingle Peninsula to explore its rugged cliffs and sandy beaches. The stunning peninsula is not only beautiful to look at but has a fascinating history that you will learn about when we take you to the edge of the ancient world.
We stop at the gorgeous Coumeennole Beach to enjoy some crisp sea air before continuing our way through Tralee into County Clare. We spend the night in Ennis where the pubs are filled with locals playing traditional Irish music, so get your dancing shoes ready.
Today we brave the heights and soak up the dramatic views at the Cliffs of Moher that tower high above the wild Atlantic Ocean. The cliffs continue for eight kilometres and reach a staggering 214 meters in height. You might have spotted them on the big screen as a backdrop for Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince and the Princess Bride.
Afterwards, we’ll explore the weird and magical world of the Burren, Ireland’s lunar landscape and home to fairies and leprechauns! It’s time to decide if you believe in the mythical world when your Guide recites fairies stories and Irish legends to you. We overnight in Galway, Ireland’s cultural capital where you can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and listen to the city’s many buskers.
We travel through the wild and rugged region of Connemara, past its bogs and lakes in the south to the stunning mountain vistas in the north. We make our way to the town of Westport for lunch, before visiting the resting place of the world famous poet, W.B. Yeats in Sligo.
In the afternoon, we cross the border into Northern Ireland and continue into its second largest city, Derry which is our home for the night. This medieval city will test your emotions when you take an award winning walking tour to hear all about the 1972 massacre known as Bloody Sunday from a local guide.
Follow in the footsteps of Giants at the eighth natural wonder of the world and UNESCO Word Heritage Site, The Giant's Causeway. Thousands of hexagonal stone columns on the North Atlantic coast created by a giant or geology, you decide!
We spend the night in the village of Ballintoy, which was used as the town of Lordsport on the Isle of Pyke in Game of Thrones. You have the chance to head to the stunning Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and sway Indiana Jones' style over the choppy Atlantic Ocean. Ballintoy is also famous for its gorgeous sunsets so take your time and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery and have your camera at the ready.
This morning we make our way to the Dark Hedges, an atmospheric avenue of beech trees that became famous as the Kingsroad from Game of Thrones.
Then on to Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Take a Black Cab Tour with a local cabbie into the Loyalist and Republican heartlands to learn about the troubles that raged and see the infamous political murals all around the city. After exploring Belfast, we head back to Dublin, check-in to our city centre hostel and join the legendary St Pats welcome party where you’ll meet all the other partygoers.
Explore the sights and streets of Dublin on our Shamrocker walking tour led by your local Guide, before we head to the Guinness Storehouse to discover all there is to know about 'the black stuff'. No need to queue with our fast track entry tickets, so we get straight to business! In the afternoon, you have plenty of time to enjoy the festival vibe and take in the music and dancing happening throughout the city.
