No visit to Beijing is complete without walking along the legendary Great Wall of China, so escape the busy city streets with us and experience one of the Great Wonders. We promise you won`t regret it!
Unlike other regular Great Wall tours in Beijing, we focus on a small group tour which DOESN’T take you to any shops or factories – a hassle free and authentic Great Wall experience is what we want you to have and remember!
Beat the early morning traffic and head outside Beijing for the Great Wall of China. Arrive before the crowds (the later you come, the more “people experience” you will have than the Wall experience) at Mutianyu, a mostly restored, spectacular section of the wall, and take a moment to take in this incredible view. It`s a short hike up onto the wall but the climb is worth it, as you`ll be rewarded with amazing views of the wall as it stretches through the surrounding countryside. Yep. That`s right. You`ve made it to the Great Wall of China. Savour this moment. An alternative is to take the cable car up at your own expense to the wall if you wish to avoid the climb, giving you the flexibility that you can enjoy at your own pace.
Trek along to the watchtowers and learn about some of the wall’s myths and legends from your local guide, all the while drinking in even more spectacular views. Although there are a lot of steep steps in places, we invite you to tackle the Great Wall at your own pace as you soak up the magnitude of this feat of engineering.
At the end of the walk along the Great Wall of China, it`s up to you how you want to get down. You can head back the way you came, or, if you fancy a different perspective, take the cable car or toboggan (yep, toboggan) back down.
After well and truly working up an appetite, we`ll head to a nearby village for a tasty local lunch and try some Chinese specialties. With full tummies, start making the journey back to Beijing. Your local guide can give you more suggestions on what to do, so don’t be shy to ask our local experts for their help.

Day 3

Meeting time: 9 am local time
Meeting point: Outside Exit A2 of Shichahai metro station on Line 8
Directions: Take metro line 8, and go out of exit A2
Beijing is a city that’s both modern and traditional, forward-looking and connected to its past, and in our opinion, one of the best ways to experience it all is by bike.
Although modernising at a rapid pace, for now, China`s capital still preserves its ancient and traditional heart in the winding alleyways and backstreets around the Forbidden City. Known as hutongs, these lanes are still home to many of Beijing`s residents as well as shops, markets, temples, and historic buildings.
As our Beijing bike tour winds through the hutongs, you`ll have a unique view of this traditional way of life and witness this neighbourhood as it slowly disappears and the developers move in. Ride along the Forbidden City moat and through the parks nearby is for sure one of our favourite experiences and gives you a different perspective to this formerly “forbidden city” now being a welcoming open place for the non-royals.
Visit some of our local friends at Huiling and enjoy a simple but tasty Chinese lunch in a hutong house. Huiling is a community based NGO which does great work for mentally challenged people. You will have a chance to learn about their work, make some friends in the workshop.
Hop back on to your bikes and continue our cycling journey through the hutongs until you are back at the drum tower to return the bikes, where this revealing local Beijing bike tour comes to an end.

04

Day 4

Meeting time: 8am local time
Meeting point: Outside of Exit A1, East Gate of Temple of Heaven (Tiantandongmen) on Metro Line 5
Directions: Take Metro line 5 and Get off at Tiantandongmen Station (East Gate of Temple of Heaven). Exit A1
Looking for the ultimate Beijing city tour? This just might be it. Hit the icons, partake in local activities, ride the subway, and gain insight into life as a local on this Beijing city tour.
Start your tour with the morning exercise with the locals in which is one of Beijing’s most popular parks and historical sites, Temple of Heaven Park. It is full of people of all ages taking part in traditional pastimes such as tai chi, fan dancing, diablo, kite flying, water calligraphy, and more.
Join in some of the activities if you`d like, soaking up its relaxed atmosphere. Visit the temple and ritual sites inside, where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would offer sacrifices to heaven and pray for good harvests.
Jump on Beijing`s subway to travel to the very heart of the city for a visit to one of Beijing`s icons: Tiananmen Square.
As we wander through this immense square your local guide will enlighten you as to why Tiananmen is so special to the Chinese people. From there, we`ll pass through the Gate of Heavenly Peace (adorned with its famous Mao portrait) to enter the famed Forbidden City. Off-limits to most of the world for 500 years, this ‘city’ houses the best preserved cluster of ancient buildings in China, and is a must-see spot in Beijing. Discover some of its secrets and learn about some of the legends while enjoying a tour through its many buildings.
After leaving the Forbidden City, we will grab a simple lunch in a local restaurant to devour on the tasty authentic Chinese food. Then we will continue to gain a new perspective over this immense structure from the top of the pagoda in Jingshan Park. High on a hill overlooking the city, this is the best place to take in stunning views of not only the Forbidden City, but the ancient heart of Beijing.
Our ultimate Beijing tour will end in Jingshan Park, where you are free to spend more time exploring or head back into the heart of Beijing to take in more of the city’s sights.
